Dying to Kill

Patricia H. Rushford. Dying to Kill. Revell. 2004.

Angel Delaney is always involved in solving a mystery. As Dying to Kill begins, she is waiting for her police partner to solve the disappearance of a young teenager in Oregon. She is currently on leave because of the death of an earlier partner.

Even though she wants to avoid detective work for a while, one of the residents of her town approaches her about the death of her husband. Although that resident was the result of domestic violence, there is some doubt as to whether her husband was murdered or whether he committed suicide. As you might expect, Delaney gets caught up in solving the mystery and winds up in the middle of a killing spree. The local police aren't always anxious to have her assistance but she persists in bring suspects and clues to their attention. Eventually, her own life is in danger.

Rushford has a way of writing mysteries that even makes me want to finish the book before laying it down again! Her characters are realistic and have a real depth to them. This particular mystery is based in Oregon. The person committing the murder will catch everyone off guard.

Recommendation

I have no problem recommending any book in the Angel Delaney mystery series. They are well told tales that keep you wanting more!
