![]() The Case for a CreatorLee Strobel. The Case for a Creator. Zondervan. 2004. Lee Strobel was a rookie journalist in 1974 when he was sent to West Virginia to check on a story about “hillbillies” protesting the books being used in their schools. The editor warned him that two reporters had been beaten up since the protest began. After talking with the locals, Strobel concluded: To me, the controversy in West Virginia was a symbolic last gasp of an archaic belief system hurtling toward oblivion. As more and more young people are taught the ironclad evidence for evolution, as they understand the impossibility of miracles, as they see how science is on the path to ultimately explaining everything in the universe, then belief in an invisible God, in angels and demons, in a long-ago rabbi who walked on water and multiplied fish and bread and returned from the dead, will fade into a fringe superstition confined only to dreary backwoods hamlets like Campbell’s Creek, West Virginia. Strobel uses chapters 2 and 3 to debunk the myths being taught as fact by evolutionists. He discusses 4 items that are frequently used to “prove” evolution. In 1953, a graduate student at the University of Chicago used electric sparks to produce a red gooey substance in his artificially created primitive earth’s atmosphere. Then, he discusses Darwin’s tree of life showing how all life originated from one common ancestor. The next “proof” is Earnst Haeckel’s drawings of embryos showing how most life appears similar in embryonic form. The final proof used to prove the theory of evolution is the so called missing link fossil that was supposed to be half bird and half reptile. Chapter 3 does an outstanding job of disproving the so-called proof for evolution by showing why the proof was incorrect. According to the text, the 1953 experiment had not duplicated early earth’s atmosphere properly since scientists, as early as the 1960s, believed early earth’s atmosphere did not contain much hydrogen—the main component of the experiment’s atmosphere. Darwin’s tree of life theory also failed after nearly a century of fossil records were uncovered and studied. According to one of Strobel’s sources, the embryo drawings had been faked. The half-reptile/half-bird fossil was later proved to be simply a bird! Of course, some science books still have not corrected the errors reported here. The remainder of the book consists of Strobel’s interviews with many scientific leaders today, all of whom believe that evolution is not a scientific fact. Reading those chapters will enlighten every person being continually exposed to the falsehood of evolution as it is being taught today. RecommendationThis book will support your belief in a God that over saw the creation of the world and its occupants (human, animal, plant). I strongly recommend every parent read this so they can teach their children the truth as supported by the Bible instead of the science fiction being taught in schools today. NOTE: I have never felt evolution made since even though my original career goal was to be a Biology teacher! As a remedial reading teacher, I had to help students learn to understand their science books and felt very uncomfortable helping them to learn things I totally believed were false. This book, written some 25 years later, supports my position. Where Would You Like to Visit Next?Christian Reviewer -- webring entry |
