![]() Christian Girls and BehaviorKristi Holl. No Boys Allowed: Devotions for Girls. Zonderkidz. 2004. Boys and girls think differently (just in case you haven’t already noticed). No Boys Allowed is an outstanding devotional written just for girls, aged 8-12. This book contains 90 days of devotions. Each devotion begins with a Bible verse. There is a discussion of the topic of the verse. This is followed by “Did you know” which shows you another scripture dealing with the same subject. Then there is a brief statement under “Girl talk”. “God Talk” helps you say a prayer about the topic you’ve been studying. Some devotions are also followed by “Fun Factoids”. Once your daughter has completed this devotion, she will have gained God’s perspective on 90 hot topics. They will point her towards God’s way versus man’s way or worse yet, her peer’s way of handling those problems. Andrea Stephens. Girlfriend You Are a B.A.B.E. Revell. 2005. “B.A.B.E.” stands for beautiful, accepted, blessed, and eternally significant. There are four book sections – one for each of these topics. This book provides much information for the Christian girl struggling in today’s society. I strongly recommend that Christian families with girls and youth leaders become familiar with the subjects discussed here. It is so important to help your Christian girls/teenagers develop a Christian worldview and a Christian view of themselves. Stephens is an excellent writer. She really connects with her audience. A teenage friend of mine was extremely happy when I handed her this book to study. She is just beginning to get interested in boys and is trying to learn how to decide what characteristics she does and does not like in them. I hope this book will also help her analyze herself to be sure she is reflecting Jesus. Hayley DiMarco. Sexy Girls: How Hot is Too Much?. Revell. 2006. Readers, I am often dismayed when I walk into a church and see females of all ages dressed in very immodest clothing. I don’t like seeing bra straps showing and shirts so tight that even breast nipples are apparent. I simply don’t understand why “modesty” isn’t being followed in God’s house or society as a whole. I also get tired of seeing boys on the streets with pants hanging down so low that you are expecting them to fall off and expose their underwear and the state of their penis. Modesty applies to both males and females. My pastor just told me how disgusted he is when talking to a group meeting where the ladies have their pants or shirts so low or high that he can see body piercings and tattoos on parts that shouldn’t be exposed to the sun! These are Christian women! Sexy Girls Addresses this issue down through the ages. The author includes quizzes that help the reader know if they are doing the same things she is talking about. Key points in the test are printed white on black so the reader has little doubt as to how important the author thinks that particular statement is. This is a book I highly recommend for Christian families and church libraries. It’s time to learn to dress in a Godly way. Where Would You Like to Visit Next?Christian Reviewer -- webring entry |
